This was the first of many steel spider sculptures Ken has made. The inspiration comes from his personal fascination with the insects. While on display in a gallery, this sculpture evoked one of two emotions from people: Love or Hate.

The body was made from flat sheet metal that Ken hammered into shape. The legs are tapering, solid round steel.

This spider, as well as spider #2, are able to be displayed resting on the ground, or hanging from a wall.

It now resides in a private collection.
